Lock the face first
Start with "change only the hairstyle" and list what is fixed: face, skin tone, expression, clothing, background. That clause is what stops the model from redrawing the person.
Upload a clear photo, describe the haircut you want to try, or add a picture of the style. Same face, same photo, different hair.
Try a new hairstyle on your own photo. Name the cut, length, and colour, or show a reference, and the face, skin tone, and background stay as they are.
Upload at least one reference image before generating.
All four accept your photo and a style reference. Hair texture and the hairline are where they differ, so run a curly or braided style through two.

OpenAI latest image model. Sharper instruction following, cleaner in-image text, up to 4K.

Photorealistic detail with tight prompt control. Accepts up to 8 reference images.

Highest quality Google model. Supports up to 4K resolution.

Strong typography and poster layouts. Handles dense in-image text at 1K and 2K.
A hairstyle edit is useful only if the person still looks like themselves. These points keep it that way and keep the hair believable.

Start with "change only the hairstyle" and list what is fixed: face, skin tone, expression, clothing, background. That clause is what stops the model from redrawing the person.

Length, shape, and fringe do the work: "shoulder-length layered bob, soft curtain bangs, side part". "A nice modern cut" leaves too much to guess.

Either say "same hair colour" or name the new one, for example "warm chestnut with subtle caramel highlights". Unstated, the colour can drift along with the cut.

Upload the haircut you like as a second photo and write "image 1 is the person, image 2 is the hairstyle to copy". It carries length and shape better than words.

A hat, a hand in the hair, or a head turned away hides the hairline the model needs. An even-lit shot with the hair visible gives the best result.

The point of a preview is comparison. Run the same photo with a short, a medium, and a long option before deciding anything.

Your hair type, thickness, and growth pattern decide what a real cut will look like. Bring the result to your stylist as a reference, not as a guarantee.
