Nano Banana 2.1 vs Nano Banana Pro

Two Google models, one price gap of up to 3x. The prompt box below holds both, so you can run your own brief through each and decide whether the difference is worth paying for.

Nano Banana 2.1 costs 15 credits for a 1K image, Pro costs 45. We ran the same two prompts on both and show what the extra credits buy, and what they don't.

Two prompts, both models, what we saw

We ran a text-heavy poster and a macro product shot on each model, one generation apiece. Timings are end to end from submit to finished image, so treat them as single measurements rather than averages.

Poster on 2.1: every line spelled right

The headline, three priced lines and the small opening-hours line all came back exactly as written, in green and orange with a large peach basket. It cost 15 credits and took about 18 seconds. For a poster where the wording must match your source, this is already a pass.

Poster on Pro: also exact, but it looks printed

Pro spelled every line correctly too, so text accuracy did not separate the models. What did differ was the print feel: red and navy ink with uneven edges, a deckled paper border and a woven basket with flowers. It cost 45 credits and took about 55 seconds.

Macro watch at 2K on 2.1: readable and sharp

The full dial stayed in focus, the engraved "AUTOMATIC 21 JEWELS" was legible and the lume hands read clearly. The bracelet links were softer than the case. That came to 20 credits and about 24 seconds.

Macro watch on Pro: materials are where it pulls ahead

Pro drew a tighter crop with crisper brushed-versus-polished steel on the bracelet and a visible reflection on the crystal edge. It also added a date window we never asked for, and the dial markers fell softer. 45 credits, about 72 seconds. One run each, so a second try could land differently.
